recently, i've posted a couple of warm weather dresses (even though it's the beginning of winter here in brooklyn). i just can't help daydreaming about leaving this cold, windy city and finding a warm spot somewhere to do nothing for a while. decadent, luxurious, wonderful nothing.
so, i bring you more warm weather dresses from ebay just in case you're going on a tropical holiday and need to look amazing. (also, please take me with you...)
the maldives
beautifully printed, comfy, crisp cotton to wear while lounging on the hammock of your private villa ON the indian ocean. which, btw, is the exact color of that first skirt.
havana
so i know it's still illegal for american's to visit cuba, but there's got to be some way around it. once i figure it out, i'm packing all the brightly colored, sheer layered dresses i can into a suitcase and heading to old havana!
melbourne
black is cool. sheer, lacy black is even cooler. these vintage dresses have just the right amount of edge to look hip and urban in a warm australian metropolis.
oahu
when in hawaii, one must dress head to toe in flowers. there's just no two ways about it.
happy bidding!

whimsical wednesdsay
check out this cuff bracelet i found on radici.co.uk. i love the kitchy stitching on the structured perspex cuff, but the thing that really makes me fall head over heels for this is the quote from "the little prince".
"it is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
precious.

a little too twee?
i asked a co-worker today if fuzzy mouse ears would ever be acceptable headgear. "probably not", he said..."but wear them if you want." then i showed him some photos from the spring 2009 look book for l'ecole des femmes - school of women. "nope", he said. "definitely too cute. way too twee."
i just may disagree. take a look.
all images from school of women.
tragically cute, i will admit. but i love that a very versatile, strong look is created with only a handful of pieces. i'm not sure that i could stick to such a stark palette of grey, white, and black but i would definitely be willing to try a tiny suit with a skinny tie.

umbrellas for your feet
oh, how i have longed for the old galoshes i had as a child! whenever it would rain, i wouldn't worry about what shoes i had on because i knew i could shove my be-shoed foot into the nearly shapeless, oversized rubber boot and i could splash in the puddles all day long.
as an adult, i am constantly torn about which shoes to wear on rainy days. heels are dangerous, sneakers get soaked, and suede would be ruined forever. my rain shoe, as long as it is warm enough to wear them, is an old pair of rainbow flip flops (i figure a wet foot is better than a soaked shoe). then when the weather turns cold, it's a rather unattractive pair of duck boots.
UNTIL NOW! check these puppies out.
they are called shuellas. they fit over any shoe, including heels, and keep your feet completely dry during rain storms. i can hardly wait to carry them all over the city in my bag, just knowing that i am completely prepared for the next downpour.

perfect boots
i have been looking for the past three years for the pair of perfect boots. not just any "perfect" boot, but boots that meet all of these very specific requirements:
- flat
- brown leather
- pull on (no zipper)
- knee high
- fold over cuff

current obsession
i need this bathing suit...seriously. i haven't even tried on a one-piece for years. i think it could be a combination of the fact that my flat tummy is my main physical asset and that when i was in high school my mother would allow only the most modest swimsuits *when all of my friends were wearing string bikinis.*

i am loving...
yarborough jewelry. i found the company randomly while reading my monthly email installment of the JC report and fell madly in love.
the fall/winter 2007 collection is punctuated with great portrait-like photos of poultry...

while the spring/summer 2008 collection is litered with photos of great vintage cars.

i am not normally taken by jewelry, but i really love this stuff. if any jewelry makers out there are feeling particularly generous, i would love a vintage leather button necklace!

ending soon
all of these dresses from ebay are ending within the next two days. some very soon...others a little later. i love them all because of their impeccable detailing. please win them and let me know!
the crocheted
the sweet, delicate detailing on these dresses is gorgeous. the little bit of skin that pokes out from underneath the crocheting is terribly sexy!
the ethnic
these dress are so sumptuous. they make me want to have a tan...and to be on vacation in bali.
the yellow hemmed
what a great detail. the prints are bold and the colors bolder. i love it. a lot.
the embroidered
holy double detailing batman. crochet and embroidery. wow. bam. awesome.
the tuxedo ruffled
okay so i kind of cheated on this one. the purple dress is the most beautiful thing i have ever seen. ever. i dug up the orange dress just so this category could have two pictures. *lame* but the orange dress is nice too.
happy bidding!
