food centric friday returns

i found these quirky food sculptures when i was over looking at apartment therapy's sister site the kitchn. they come directly from a site called wacky archives and are really quite, well, wacky!

umbrellas for your feet

oh, how i have longed for the old galoshes i had as a child! whenever it would rain, i wouldn't worry about what shoes i had on because i knew i could shove my be-shoed foot into the nearly shapeless, oversized rubber boot and i could splash in the puddles all day long.

as an adult, i am constantly torn about which shoes to wear on rainy days. heels are dangerous, sneakers get soaked, and suede would be ruined forever. my rain shoe, as long as it is warm enough to wear them, is an old pair of rainbow flip flops (i figure a wet foot is better than a soaked shoe). then when the weather turns cold, it's a rather unattractive pair of duck boots.

UNTIL NOW! check these puppies out.

they are called shuellas. they fit over any shoe, including heels, and keep your feet completely dry during rain storms. i can hardly wait to carry them all over the city in my bag, just knowing that i am completely prepared for the next downpour.

perfect boots

i have been looking for the past three years for the pair of perfect boots. not just any "perfect" boot, but boots that meet all of these very specific requirements:

  1. flat
  2. brown leather
  3. pull on (no zipper)
  4. knee high
  5. fold over cuff
today, i think i have found them. i present to you the frye paige cuff boot.

now i have two dilemmas. first, can i really cough up $400 bucks for these beauties and second, how do i choose between dark brown and slate. (?!) see below. (drool.)

whimsical wednesday - edie gets funky

i can't think of anyone more whimsical than little edie beale of grey gardens. here she is in action.

and here she is in an excerpt from a one hour mash up of the same footage that has been laid over with some funky beats. trippy.

random vlog (?!) tuesday

this week instead of a regular blog to show you, i have a vlog (video log...but i doubt i needed to spell that out for you web savvy people out there). a friend emailed this sarah palin parody to me and it is hilarious (regardless of your chosen party, i think). if it does happen to offend you, just say to yourself over and over "this is just a joke. this is just a joke. this is just a joke." enjoy.

mod about ebay

my search on ebay continues. i have become obsessed with all things mod for the fall. mod hair, mod jewelery, mod dresses, mod dresses, mod dresses...(you get the idea, yeah?)

so, i have several new additions to my wardrobe to update you on.

the "perfectly suzy" dress

this dress is me up and down. i love the pattern, i love the colors, i love the cut. the measurements are mine exactly. i can't wait to wear this dress.

the "mod doesn't have to be crazy" dress

in my search for mod dresses, i have found myself drawn to the crazy patterns, the bright colors, and the bold lines. this dress has all the right details to be mod (knot at the neck, 3/4 sleeves, welt pockets, mini length) but is made in a rather understated grey wool. love it.

the "never going to want to take this off" dress

fit and flare, poly dress = super comfy
ambiguous fish scale/bird feather pattern = super fun
poly dress + scale/feather pattern = perfection

the "diamond in the rough" dress

now, we all know that this dress hasn't been photographed well at all and the mannequin is a little creepy, but i have hope in this dress. faith in THIS dress. it will be perfect on me. the fit will be great and the smocked neckline (which you can hardly see in the pictures) will be such a flattering detail. and i love the neon green! it's gonna work out...just you wait.

believe it or not i'm still waiting for a few more dresses to end. i will let you know how they turn out.

where is suzy?

i'm sure you've been asking yourselves that question over and over again. i bet it wakes you up in the middle of the night.

well, wonder no longer. i have returned from my multiple and very luxurious (ha) summer vacations. my love for fashion has been renewed by the turning of the seasons and i have lots to say about it.

stay tuned!
