i saw "factory girl" for the first time yesterday, and while i thought the movie was just fine...the clothes were amazing. with my passion for mod fall dresses i'm thinking of getting the "edie sedgwick" haircut above. it's a huge change for me...but it's just hair, right? (i've already started looking for big, vintage earrings on ebay!) what do you think?

yesterday i changed my theme in igoogle. i found an entirely new category of themes created by artists. i chose to use the theme by edward monkton...who i didn't know before, but his stuff looked super fun. and it is super fun!
this morning i went to his website and you should go too...strictly based on all the really cute and inspirational images i snagged and posted here.

yarborough jewelry. i found the company randomly while reading my monthly email installment of the JC report and fell madly in love.

the fall/winter 2007 collection is punctuated with great portrait-like photos of poultry...

while the spring/summer 2008 collection is litered with photos of great vintage cars.

the presentation is so much fun...but the actual jewelry is better. i love the diy quality of many of the pieces and find it just as inspirational for future projects as i find myself lusting after the pieces themselves.

the last photo really reminds me of some of the cupcake diary's stuff.

i am not normally taken by jewelry, but i really love this stuff. if any jewelry makers out there are feeling particularly generous, i would love a vintage leather button necklace!

repurposing...yet again!

one of my personal goals is to always be ready to adapt and change. if something isn't fitting right in my life, i want to have the ability to fix it.

i have used the past month or so as an experiment to see what really peaks my interest enough to share it with you. that is why i haven't posted in a few days. i am working on repurposing the blog *or rather narrowing the focus and altering it slightly.*

today i took wardrobe inspiration from the unlikely inspirational team of bert and ernie from sesame street.
okay maybe not completely unlikely. i guess they could give great advice on learning to count, conquering a fear of the darkness, and rubber duckies...just unlikely in the fashion inspiration sense. but man...i can't get enough of bright, bold stripes.

i have a very large collection of vintage neckties that i have collected since i was in college. the original concept was to use them as fabric for crafting, which i have some, but as the pile grew i have taken to wearing them occasionally. right now i am totally feeling annie hall.

michel gondry is absolutely one of my favorite directors. his view of the world and the relationships we have in it are extremely profound. he always brings a childlike playfulness to his pictures, my favorites being eternal sunshine of the spotless mind and the science of sleep. i find him completely enchanting.

i love this photo of zooey deschanel. as of late, she has been my main style icon and i think this picture reflects it all. she wears the prettiest colors for her complexion, loves intricate details, and has vintage sensibilities. *and a fabulous haircut!*

i saw this dress on the urban collection's website too late. it was already sold and my heart was shattered to pieces. but i saved the image and my quest has begun. i will find a dress that is equally bright, patterened, and fitted *and bonus points if it is cheaper.* please let me know if you see anything like this out there.

this photo, taken by the sartorialist on his trip to new dehli, has totally inspired me to put makeup under my eyes. i love the bold silver flash this woman, he affectionately termed "silver eyes", has pulled off with such ease. there will be more of this to come. specifically on me!

i love the images from sam brown over at exploding dog. he takes titles that people email him and draw endearing, often times dark, cartoons to accompany them. i have a whole inpiration folder that goes back at least 4 years. i think he is amazing.

this article in the ny times dining and wine section has inspired me to be more resourceful with my fridge full of left overs. sometimes it is embarrassing the amount of food that spoils in its icy depths.

i love everything about this living room. okay almost everything. i would change the color palate...but that is it. the vintage lamp in the corner is amazing. and the huge sofa. and the mirrored screen. especially the way it casts patterened light onto the wall. i love it.
