holiday season is upon us.

band of outsiders 2008 holiday collection puts an emphasis on gentlemanly attire crafted from very luxurious fabrics. i love the line and would adore any man wearing a mustard gold velvet waistcoat and trousers, but put the clothes on photographer paul jasmin and it seems especially endearing.

all images from valet.com ...which, by the way, is an awesome lifestyle magazine for the guys.

whimsical wednesdsay

check out this cuff bracelet i found on radici.co.uk. i love the kitchy stitching on the structured perspex cuff, but the thing that really makes me fall head over heels for this is the quote from "the little prince".

"it is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."

precious.

the cutest random website tuesday of all

i just found an adorable website via ismoyo. it is called Lefor-Openo, named after the illustration duo who created amazing post cards, advertisements and posters in the sixties. oh, and they're french (oh, lala!).

here are some of my favorites.

food centric friday

there is a deli located directly next door to my apartment, which is incredibly convenient when i run out of either cat food or toilet paper, but is a little too convenient when a junk food craving attacks. i have tried nearly every flavor of ben and jerry's they carry and am completely captivated by a few of the new(ish) flavors.

here are the handful that i can NEVER resist:

Banana & Strawberry Ice Creams with Walnuts, Fudge Chunks & a Fudge Swirl

what b&j say:
"You've been requesting this classic sundae flavor for years! At last, a part of the ice cream parlor can be brought home."

what i say: the walnuts make this flavor. i don't even like banana and strawberry together, but somehow this works for me. and the fruit chunks make it feel a little healthier...(denial much?)

Cheesecake Ice Cream with Cheesecake Brownie Chunks

what b&j say: "We have a lot in common with our friends at Google. We're both passionate about searching for answers! So we've teamed up with Google to spread the word about ONE, a grassroots campaign dedicated to fighting extreme poverty and preventable diseases around the globe. We can end extreme poverty in our lifetime if we all agree to be part of the solution. Learn what you can do by visiting one.org/benjerry today!"

what i say: yeah, that's a really nice sentiment...but the ice cream is amazing! seriously i don't even have to talk about this one do i?

Peach Ice Cream with Cinnamon-Sugar Shortbread Pieces

what b&j say: "A partnership with Willie Nelson. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Farm Aid."

what i say: maybe it's because i'm southern, but this flavor caters to everything i love. peaches (check), shortbread (check), willie (check!). and i blame the shortbread because even with the fruit pieces, this one doesn't seem healthier at all.

Sweet Custard Ice Cream with a Caramelized Sugar Swirl

what b&j say: "This flavor captures a true "crème brûlée" experience with a custard ice cream recipe & a crunchy caramelized sugar swirl."

what i say: someone actually brought this into work last week for everyone to try because it is so delicious. (fortunately, i had consumed many pints of it previous to the work episode...my life would be so sad without this flavor.) it's like a fancy dessert on the cheap! and the crunch sugar swirl feels oh so wrong...in all the right ways.

Yellow Cake Batter Ice Cream with a Chocolate Frosting Swirl

what b&j say: "From a renovated gas station in Burlington, Vermont, to far-off places with names we sometimes mispronounce, what began 30 years ago with 2 guys creating otherworldly ice cream flavors has turned into a mind & taste bud boggling odyssey of Ben & Jerry's dessert served around the world. And if you're wondering how our next 30 years could possibly be as thrilling as our first, consider this batter-packed birthday flavor our Ben and Jerriest yet! It's our way of saying there's a whole lot more euphoria aheadia, not to mention a whole new way to celebrate ice cream and cake."

what i say: okay so i haven't tried this one yet...but you can bet it will be my next guilty pleasure purchase. here's to 30 more years of deliciousness b&j!

broadway at howard

a little too twee?

i asked a co-worker today if fuzzy mouse ears would ever be acceptable headgear. "probably not", he said..."but wear them if you want." then i showed him some photos from the spring 2009 look book for l'ecole des femmes - school of women. "nope", he said. "definitely too cute. way too twee."

i just may disagree. take a look.

all images from school of women.

tragically cute, i will admit. but i love that a very versatile, strong look is created with only a handful of pieces. i'm not sure that i could stick to such a stark palette of grey, white, and black but i would definitely be willing to try a tiny suit with a skinny tie.
